Guadalupe Álvarez is the founder and creative talent behind Penzi Weddings. Born and raised in San Miguel de Allende, she studied Communications at La Universidad del Nuevo Mundo in Mexico City. Deeply passionate about showcasing the beauty of her hometown, Guadalupe blends her extensive background in event and product design to create celebrations that are as meaningful as they are beautiful—establishing herself as one of Mexico’s most innovative event producers.

Before launching her career in wedding planning, Guadalupe ran her own successful houseware company, producing goods for clients across the United States and Europe. This experience gave her a unique understanding of design sensibilities across cultures and a refined ability to create environments that resonate with guests from around the world. She later co-founded and designed Mary Jane Bags, a beloved line of colorful oilcloth bags for the home.

A transformative journey to Kenya with her two sons almost 20 years ago introduced Guadalupe to the Swahili word Penzi, meaning “love and desire”—a word that would later become the heart of her brand. Since then, she has studied with some of the most respected names in the industry, including celebrity event designer Preston Bailey. Her talent and leadership have been recognized internationally: she was named one of the 100 Best Wedding Planners in the World in both 2021 and 2022 by DWP Insider, and in December 2024, she was honored as one of only ten designers invited to showcase their tabletop creations in Istanbul.

Her passion for creating unforgettable, deeply personal events is reflected in her signature aesthetic—refined, heartfelt, and full of meaning.
